The PhD School on “Data privacy, Cybersecurity, and AI” focuses on the primary role that data have in our modern digital society, where the opportunities offered by data-driven innovative technologies such as AI and big data analytics cannot be adequately pursued if the risks derived by the analysis of personal information are not identified and properly managed by means of adequate technical measures.
The PhD school agenda focuses on the SERICS Spoke 10 “Data Governance and Protection” research activities regarding the definition of novel solutions for enforcing security and privacy throughout the data lifecycle. Those solutions include techniques for sanitizing data and ensuring their privacy and confidentiality according to different metrics and privacy risks, and wrapping techniques enabling protection of data in their storage, sharing, and processing.
Special attention will be given to emerging scenarios such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, as well as to contexts where data protection is particularly critical because of the nature of the information processed.
Participants will attend keynote speeches and lectures by internationally renowned experts providing a unique mix of experiences and points of view on most advanced data protection and cybersecurity topics. Participants will also have opportunities to engage with other participants and lecturers and to present their work.
During the school, SERICS Spoke 10 researchers will describe, in a workshop, challenges investigated and results achieved.
The PhD school will take place from 17 to 21 November 2025 and will be hosted at the Università degli Studi di Milano, Computer Science Department in Milan, Italy.
The number of seats available is limited; early application is encouraged.
Information about the registration procedure will be published soon.
