The first version of the Osservatorio CybeRights is now online; this service provides the public with clear and concise information on legislation relating to cybersecurity and fundamental rights in the digital environment.
Background and project
The Osservatorio was established as part of the CybeRights research project under Spoke 1 and is based at the Department of Legal Sciences at the University of Florence, within a wider centre dedicated to the study of cybersecurity and digital regulation.
The project, funded by the PNRR, aims at making the city a national leader in the field of law in the digital age.
Objectives and scope
The Observatory’s aim is to make complex content that combines technology and law accessible, by analysing the impact of the digital transition on people’s rights. The content, which is also designed for a non-specialist audience, aims at raising legal awareness among members of the public, students and professionals.
The service provides an up-to-date overview of the regulations governing certain key areas of digital transformation, including cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, the digitisation of public administration, digital citizenship and open digital culture.
All content on the Observatory is published under a CC BY-SA 4.0 licence and may be freely used for educational and informational purposes.
The CybeRights Observatory is managed by CNR-IGSG and UNIFI-DSG, under the scientific direction of Andrea Simoncini and Marina Pietrangelo, with the support of a wide network of researchers involved in the CybeRights project.
